The mission of ENCORE CHAMBER PLAYERS is to present exciting professional chamber music concerts in a variety of unique instrumental combinations. The programming is innovative and adventuresome, featuring diverse repertoire, with a particular emphasis on music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Each concert features a different instrumental combination and adventuresome programming, to delight every taste. The music director seeks to make aesthetic connections between the repertoire chosen and current art exhibits at the residency site whenever possible through verbal notes preceding the concerts. It is this trademark that distinguishes the ensemble in the Philadelphia area.
A secondary objective is to develop and promote an appreciation of chamber music among the audience through educational means. Towards that end, pre-concert commentary by the music director, as well as detailed notes in the program booklets are provided for the audience. There is also an opportunity for the audience to meet the performing artists for informal discussion of the music following each concert.
